Check out this article, about YouTube TV raising their prices. Here’s the takeaway: “The initial promise of cord-cutting was a cheaper bill, but streaming prices are increasingly rivaling cable.” Suggestion. Use an antenna for live TV, and get rid of a few streaming services and supplement your viewing needs with freeming. BTW, I can also tell you how to build a cheap DVR for recording over-the-air TV, which will also let you pause live TV, skip ads, etc.
Life’s too short to watch ads.
Fact: Your time on this planet is limited. You have less time here than you did when you started reading this.
So I’ll make this quick. Why would you spend any more of your remaining time than you have to, watching commercials? Even worse, why would you pay streaming services to steal these moments from you?
There will always be millions of suckers willing to throw their life away a minute or more at a time. You don’t have to be one of them. Here’s the solution: Pay the extra money it takes to get no ads on a streaming service. Worth it. Watch all the stuff you dig on that service. But while you’re doing that, get rid of your other streaming services. The money you save on all those will more than pay for avoiding ads on the one. Then, repeat. Get rid of that one, pay for no ads on the next one.
Plus, obviously, you can supplement this by watching anything on freeming, for the price of a stamp. May we suggest Squid Game? Or The Queen’s Gambit? Or Furiosa, another excellent choice. With no ads and no subscription fees that keep going up. And no wasting your precious time while hurtling along on your inevitable journey toward death. Sorry, that got dark. It also got true.
Dogma…it’s not on streaming, but it is on freeming.
Nice little article here on Dogma on its 25th anniversary, and how hard it is to find a way to watch it. We make it easier. Just click here.
The only source for Charlie Brown classics if you don’t have Apple TV+.
We just added It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (a day late, but still) and A Charlie Brown Christmas to our tv shows, thanks to new member Kim. The only way to watch them on streaming is on Apple TV+. So…if you want to celebrate the holidays with the Peanuts gang, either subscribe to Apple TV+ – great service, btw, they also have Slow Horses which is really, really good and several other great shows, but I digress – or borrow them on freeming.
freeming offers better picture quality than any streaming service*
*If you’re borrowing a 4K Blu-Ray disc, like we have available for Deadpool & Wolverine or Furiosa, you’ll get a higher bit rate and bit depth than just about any streaming service. That’s according to Caleb Denison at Digital Trends. He says,
“That higher bit rate and bit depth helps with more subtle visual quality aspects like reduced color banding and other compression artifacts.”
In his article, Caleb answers a question from a reader who thinks he’s getting a better picture from streaming, and asks if there are settings he needs to tweak on his setup to get the best picture from 4K Blu-Ray discs. Part of Caleb’s answer:
“This is the first time I’ve heard anyone mention that the picture they get from their cable or streaming service looks better than the 4K Blu-ray.”
The point being, freeming can give you a better picture. At least, that’s what we took away from it. Heck this article says even Blu-Ray discs (as opposed to 4K), of which we have many, are still better than streaming.
Lord of the Rings movies leaving Prime, but they’ll always be on freeming.
So according to this article, all the Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit movies are leaving Amazon’s Prime Video at the end of October. I’m sure they’ll pop up on another streaming service, but do you have that one? The movies on freeming will never suddenly disappear. Currently we have all three of the LOTR movies – The Fellowship of the Ring plus the extended editions of The Two Towers and The Return of the King, and the first and second Hobbit movies. All we need now is someone to join who has the last Hobbit movie!
We realize this is not the easiest way to watch a movie.
Streaming is fantastic. Click and your movie or show plays. We know this. But…we believe there’s still a place for physical media. That place is freeming. Which helps you share your favorite movies with your friends and has no monthly fees and no ads. What it does have? Some titles that aren’t even on streaming, like these.
Christopher Nolan and Guillermo del Toro have stressed the importance of owning physical media. But then on the other hand, Gary Gulman has joked about being so lazy he bought a digital version of a movie that he owns on DVD. Don’t be that guy. Borrow a DVD from a friend on freeming instead.
Matt Damon on why physical media was so important to Hollywood.
Yes, physical media has been on the decline. But at freeming, we’re championing a resurgence, kind of like vinyl, or bell bottoms. Here on Hot Ones, Matt Damon tells us how the loss of DVD sales has impacted the movie industry.
Regular Show warned us about the loss of physical media
Here’s a little parable for you, courtesy of Regular Show. That time that Mordecai, Rigby and the rest of the gang found out about the “Format Wars.” Sidenote: We really need to add some Regular Show DVDs to freeming.
